Publish Policies
A- PLAGIARISM POLICY
1) Purpose and Scope
NOUS: Journal of Theoretical Psychology [NOUS: Teorik Psikoloji Dergisi] (hereinafter referred to as "NOUS") is committed to publishing original, high-quality, and ethically sound works in accordance with academic integrity and scientific ethics. All manuscripts submitted to NOUS are expected to be original and free from academic misconduct. This policy encourages authors to prepare their work within the framework of academic honesty and to cite all sources comprehensively. Our policy is based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all submitted manuscripts.
2) Types of Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct
The following actions are considered serious ethical violations:
2.1) Plagiarism: Presenting another person's or source's ideas, data, expressions, or methods as one’s own without appropriate citation.
2.2) Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one’s previously published work without citation or presenting it as a new study with minimal changes.
2.3) Fabrication: Inventing and publishing non-existent experiments, observations, or research data.
2.4) Falsification: Altering, omitting, or misrepresenting data or results.
2.5) Translation Plagiarism: Publishing a translated version of a work from another language without citation.
2.6) Salami Slicing: Dividing research results into multiple publications with minimal differences and presenting each as a separate study.
2.7) Honorary/Ghost Authorship: Including individuals who did not contribute to the work as authors or omitting contributors from the author list.
3) Plagiarism Detection Process
NOUS conducts a rigorous inspection of submitted works to ensure academic integrity.
-
Editorial Review: The editorial board manually checks manuscripts for suspicious citations and attribution errors.
-
Report Request: The editorial office reserves the right to request a current Similarity Report obtained from recognized software such as Turnitin or iThenticate from authors when deemed necessary.
-
Evaluation Criteria: NOUS adopts a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism in accordance with publication ethics. All manuscripts submitted to the journal are screened for plagiarism using iThenticate software before the pre-review and peer-review processes begin. The overall similarity rate (excluding references) must be below 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be returned to the author and desk-rejected. Even if textual similarity is low, the work may be rejected if unattributed use of a main idea or excessive use of block quotations is detected. In theoretical works, properly cited literature discussions are excluded from this evaluation.
4) Actions Against Academic Misconduct
If plagiarism or academic misconduct is detected, the editorial board may implement the following:
a) Suspension or rejection of the manuscript
b) Retraction of published articles
c) Official notification to the author’s institution
d) Rejection of future submissions from the author(s)
e) Notification of the academic community if necessary
All procedures are carried out in line with COPE guidelines.
5) Publication Ethics Oversight
The Editorial Board is responsible for examining and resolving cases of plagiarism and misconduct:
a) Reviewing suspicious manuscripts in detail
b) Requesting additional clarification or corrections from authors if needed
c) Applying appropriate academic sanctions if misconduct is verified
d) Collaborating with academic institutions as necessary
NOUS is committed to transparency and academic ethics throughout the process.
6) Ethical Statement and Author Responsibilities
Authors must declare that their submissions are original and unpublished elsewhere. Simultaneous submission to multiple journals is not allowed. For studies involving human or animal subjects, proper ethical approvals must be obtained. If an ethical breach is identified post-publication, authors are expected to provide an official explanation.
7) References and International Standards
This policy is based on COPE’s publication ethics guidelines. For more information: https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Guidelines

LOCKSS & CLOCKSS: The journal has enabled LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) systems via OJS. These systems authorize participating libraries to create distributed permanent archives for preservation and restoration purposes.
-
Persistent Identifiers (DOI): Every published article is assigned a persistent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through our integration with Zenodo, ensuring long-term findability and citation tracking.
-
PKP Preservation Network (PN): We utilize the PKP PN to digitally preserve our content in a secure "dark archive." (Note: Full synchronization with this network will commence upon the finalization of the journal's ISSN registration).
-
Self-Archiving: Authors are strongly encouraged to self-archive the published version of their work in open-access repositories such as Zenodo, OpenAIRE, ResearchGate, or their institutional repositories.
